BIOGRAPHY
A little bit about me: I grew up in my beautiful homeland - South Africa. Throughout my life I was lucky enough to see some of the most beautiful landscapes of my country.
I always had an artistic side to me. I loved drawing, enjoyed making music and singing and even enjoyed acting (even though I am an introvert). As a teenager I dabbled around with pastels and charcoal, but like most baby boomers I grew up with the saying that there is no money in the arts and we all need a real job. I got a "real job", got married and raised my two boys. When they reached their teenage years I had a bit more time at hand and turned to crafts again. I started painting on wooden trays in acrylic.
Then one day my husband challenged me to try out oil painting. I did my first oil painting in2003 and I absolutely loved the experience and oil as a medium. Over the next 15 years I did a few paintings and worked on my technique. In 2019 I decided to try to paint a couple of days per week. In 2021 a friend asked to buy Tietiesbaai and I sold my first painting. This triggered me to rethink my painting hobby and at the end of 2022 I decided to become a full time artist. Now, at the age of 60 I work harder than I have done in quite a while and I am enjoying every moment. I find every day new and challenging and it is just so much fun!
I love showcasing my beloved home country. My husband is a photographer and many of the pictures I paint was photographed by him (Deryck @Deryck's Photoworld). I love the feeling of 'standing' somewhere in my paintings, experiencing different moods and emotions as I look into the picture. It has become such a passion for me. I love the time in my studio. I love seeing another creation unfolding on the canvas. I love seeing different reactions from different people on my paintings. It just gives me so much joy and it is so much fun!

I love spending time in nature - that is how I recharge my batteries.

Spending time in my studio is just so much fun!

Tietiesbaai - the first painting I sold to a very good friend. This is when I decided to go professional with my art.
